Sister Act - The Musical

Shana and I headed down to Pasadena last night to catch Sister Act - the Musical

One of our Stage Left summer camp families, the Steinkellners, wrote the book upon which the musical and the movie were based.  Some booty groovin' tunes along with good comedy, particularly in the 1st act.  The music, by eight-time Oscar winner Alan Menken, is solid esp the R&B numbers.  Some of the sappy ballads in the 2nd act kinda dragged for me but all in all it was entertaining.  The show has been extended again and will run through Dec 23.  Check out LA Times critic Charles McNulty take on it here
