Generational Free Fall
We had Gary and Steven over for dinner this evening for Greek food. We were just about to sit down and I asked if they had some Greek tunes. Gary had this Manos Hadjidakis on his iPod and it was perfect. I love the tunes and food combo ( a la "Big Night' with a some pasta or timpano!). I did a quick amazon search and it doesn't look like there is a definitive album but this one looks pretty good, Gioconda's Smile.
After dinner, not sure why, but I started telling them about this photo exhibit on display in Paris. The photographer, Denis Darzacq wanted to capture an entire generation in freefall and with no one to catch them. He does an incredible job. This discussion prompted Gary to tell me about a film opening at the Tribeca Film Fest called Planet B-Boy.
Then Steven says this reminds him of Traces Street Clips depicting amazing acrobatic moves in an urban setting. Similar themes of athleticism, alienation, urbanization and hope, all globally interconnected.
